A Solemn Occasion

I used to love playing dress-up. I had a milk crate full of my grandmother's old clothes, and I insisted upon wearing particular costumes for specific occasions. To go to nursery school, I needed my purple hat. To portray one of my imaginary characters, I needed yello plastic sunglasses with no lenses, a transparent lavender ballet skirt, and a hat which seemed to be woven with plastic flowers. I could be a princess, a movie star, utter perfection.
