My son, an avid sports enthusiast and baseball afficianado used to envision himself as a professional ball player. Now, at age 16, he no longer fantasizes about being a team player, but imagines himself as perhaps a sports agent or even commissioner of a professional league.
My daughter, currently age 12, pursues sports from a different mindset-- particularly out of sibling rivalry with her older brother. My childhood lacked girls sports and little leagues, so I am personally thrilled that her childhood affords her opportunities to explore and discover her physical and athletic abilities. She approaches each sport with gusto and determination.
