This was the day that my Grandmother took us to the public pool. It is one of my strongest memories, partly because everyone retells the story of little me heading straight to the high dive board in the adult pool and plunging in, unafraid, paddling to the edge and doing it again and again. It reminds me of how brave you could feel when you were small.
