Franz Renard Smith
6/26/59 - 2/25/93

Franz worked as an airline stewart to facilitate his photographic artwork, not only financially, but location-wise. All over the world he photographed statues working light and shadows, highlighting portions of the body, exposing strength and beauty. I helped him set-up his studio when he first moved to Brooklyn. He photographed me well into the night documenting varying light sources and angles. We picked out five and he printed and framed them for me. He captured me on film like no other, our connection captured in each expression. I can almost see Franz in my face.
