Dreams, Desires, Memories and Images of Conkal, Yucatan, Mexico
This special exhibition is the result of a five day community workshop that I led at the Museum of Sacred Art in Conkal, Yucatan, Mexico. Workers at the museum along with other residents of the town brought in family photographs and wrote stories for this web gallery. Participants photographed each other in order to create their introductory pages. In addition to this virtual gallery, there was an exhibition of the photographs and stories at the Museum in April 2003 with a reception for the community. -Lorie Novak The workshop was sponsored by the Yucatan Cultural Institute, México. |

The photographs from this exhibition were added to the Collected Visions archive (with approximately 3,000 images.) You can either use images from our archive that trigger your memories and inspire a story to create an essay for consideration for future exhibits. You can also submit your own photos with a story to cvisions@cat.nyu.edu. |
